My dressing table

I love seeing how other people set up their dressing table and store their makeup, so today I'm going to show you my dressing table!

I may do a more in-depth video soon where I go through my makeup collection and show you where I store different products, however today is just an overview of my dressing table.

My dressing table and stool are from Next and I have the complete Hove bedroom furniture set to match.

If you watch my videos, you may remember seeing the little heart shaped bowls in my bedroom haul. I keep all of my most-used skincare products in the biggest one and the smaller one holds perfumes I am currently using. I think these look adorable and I love having them on display.

I recently bought 2 sets of the Muji drawers to store my everyday makeup and any new makeup products I have bought and need to review. Muji drawers had been on my wish list for a very long time and I am glad I finally bought some as they are so convenient for storing makeup!

I have three pots for my makeup brushes. One holds all my everyday face brushes, the other holds face brushes I don't use as often and the third is all of my eye brushes. In the photos, two of the pots are empty as my brushes were having a much-deserved clean!

My mirror was a present last Christmas and it's from Revlon. I really enjoy using this as it lights up, making it so much easier to do my makeup in the early mornings when it's dark!

On my dressing table I also keep my Tangle Teezer which I love and any hair products that I use on a regular basis, so they are easy to grab.

This dressing table has two drawers which is where I store the rest of my makeup. One holds all my face products and the other, all my eye and lip products.

Let me know if you would like to see a makeup collection video!

Comparison: Under-eye concealers

You may know that the Bobbi Brown Corrector has been a favourite of mine for a while now. I used to use it everyday and I found it covered any under-eye discolouration perfectly. I hardly have any left though, so instead of splashing out on a new one for £18.50, I thought I would try and find a slightly cheaper alternative!

I read a blog post mentioning the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint concealer and decided to give it a go. I really like creamy concealers like this that are in a pot, so this seemed a great option.

The main difference between these is the colour. The top swatch is the Seventeen concealer in fair, and the bottom is the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Peach. The Seventeen one is obviously a bit darker, however I didn't notice that until I swatched them for this photo. Once blended under my eyes, both are a perfect colour match for me!

The texture of both products is creamy and neither are too heavy or thick, despite the Seventeen one being called 'paint' and 'heavy duty'! The Bobbi Brown one is a corrector rather than a concealer, however I find they both provide enough coverage to be used on their own. The Seventeen one does provide a little bit more coverage, but not a lot more.

I think from now on I wont be repurchasing the Bobbi Brown Corrector because the Seventeen concealer is only £5.49 and in my opinion, just as good!

My everyday makeup : 2

For Christmas I was lucky enough to receive some lovely new makeup products. I have also bought a couple of new products recently and love them, so have started using them everyday!

Recently I bought the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. I bought this a couple of years ago, however I had it in the shade darker which didn't match me, so I never wore it. The colour I bought the other week is 010, Light Porcelain which matches me perfectly.

Under my eyes I use my new Seventeen Phwoarr Paint concealer. I am scheduling a comparison post of this and the Bobbi Brown Corrector soon, so you can read my thoughts!

The Collection Lasting Perfection concealer is a product I have used and loved for ages. It does the job of covering blemishes perfectly, whilst also being an amazing price!

I received the Max Factor Crème Puff powder for Christmas and have been wearing it almost everyday since. It has a scent to it, so if you don't like scented products this may not be for you, however I think it's lovely.

My parents bought me the Clarins Graphic Expression Face and Blush powder for Christmas. This product is gorgeous and gives my skin a lovely colour. The colour it gives is suitable for using all over the face as it's very natural. I focus this more on my cheeks and then dust any extra across my forehead, nose and chin.

I use Mac Charcoal Brown eye shadow through my eyebrows and then set that with Maybelline BrowDrama. These products together leave my eye brows looking natural and defined.

The L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara is a new release I believe. I saw it in Boots the other week and being the mascara lover I am, had to buy it! I really love how this leaves my lashes looking.

I really like the Revlon lip butters as they leave my lips moisturised and soft with a nice hint of colour. The colour I use is Strawberry Shortcake which is very pretty, plus the colour is buildable.

I used a few of these products in my New Years Eve makeup video, so you can watch that if you'd like to see how I apply them.

I may post an everyday makeup video soon, so then you can see how all of these products apply. Let me know if you would be interested in watching that!

Please let me know in the comments below your favourite makeup products!

New Year resolutions: 2014

Last year I wrote a New Years resolution post, so I thought this year I would do the same. It's nice posting it on my blog as then I can look back over it at the end of the year, or just throughout the year, to see how I am doing!

Exercise
During 2014 I definitely want to be more active. Last year I used to walk for about 2 hours per day and I really enjoyed it. Now I'm working though, it's only a 30 minute walk from my house and if I stay at my boyfriends, I only walk 20 minutes! My eating isn't that healthy, so I would like to improve that as well, but my main focus is being more fit and active.

Blog
I absolutely love blogging, so I definitely want to carry on improving throughout this year. Blogging makes me feel very happy and I love chatting to you all and seeing the lovely comments you leave on my posts. I am also going to try and carry on improving my Youtube videos. I posted a New Years Eve makeup tutorial the other week which was so fun to film and a type of video I had never done before!

Money
Save more money. I am pretty good at saving money when I set my mind to it, however over Christmas I tend to spend a little too much! I want to focus on saving lots during this next year so I can put it away for the future.

Travel
I love discovering and visiting new places, so travelling more is something I would love to do. It doesn't have to be far, I just like going to places I have never been before. This year I am possibly going to Ireland again which will be great. My boyfriend and I are planning on going away to a couple of places and we always go on fun days out!

Please let me know your New Year goals and resolutions in the comments below!

MaryJane Fashion

I am definitely getting into fashion a lot more since I started blogging. My blog mainly started as a beauty blog, however I am starting to do outfit posts and write about fashion more often now! I find it really inspiring and I love seeing all the new trends.

Recently I discovered Mary Jane fashion and their clothes look lovely! They pride themselves on offering a vast collection of fashion, including the latest trends and mens fashion.

I am constantly wearing tights with skirts or dresses lately, however when I want to change it up, I always go for skinny jeans or leggings as I find them so comfy and easy to wear.

They have a great range of skinny jeans online which are such a good price! I usually go for black or acid wash jeans and their blue acid wash jeans look exactly like something I would wear. In the description of the item, they even give you ideas of which clothes you could pair them with.

There are some lovely cute printed leggings from MaryJane fashion. They have a huge variety, ranging from velvet, tartan, floral and even disco style leggings! I was so tempted to try disco pants for a very long time, however they are quite pricey, so these would be a great way to try out something similar.

My favourite leggings may have to be the velvet ones I put in the photo above. I have a velvet skirt and I love it, so it would be great to have more velvet items in my wardrobe! The ones above are high-waisted because I think they would be more comfortable and flattering, however they have a non high-waisted version too.

There is one high-street store in Bolton High Street, however if you spen£25 online, you receive free delivery which is brilliant!

I would love to know your favourite places to shop for clothes online.

What I got for Christmas

I really enjoy reading what other people have been given for Christmas, so I thought I would write my own 'What I got for Christmas' post. I did this last year and a lot of you seemed to like it. I personally love reading them as I always spot a few products that I add to my list of things to buy!

Beauty

I didn't ask for much makeup this year, so my parents only bought me a couple of things. First of all I received the Max Factor Creme Puff powder which I have heard lots of lovely things about. I have only used it a few times so far and it seems lovely. Also, I received the Clarins Graphic Expression face & blush palette. Both of these products I wore on Christmas day, so you can see me wearing them here.

I received some lovely skincare items this year. My Granny very kindly bought me the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish which is my favourite cleanser! I ran out of it earlier this year so was very pleased to receive it. On my Christmas list I asked for the Origins Ginzing moisturiser and Origins Night-A-Mins moisturiser. My mum managed to find a fantastic gift set with both these moistrisers in, plus a mini Ginzing eye cream and Drink-Up Intensive Overnight mask. It's not very often I see a gift set where I love every single product, however this one is perfect.

I love little Christmas gift sets and I was lucky enough to receive a nice Soap & Glory set which I am excited to use!

I received two perfumes this year. A few months ago I was in town with my mum smelling perfumes and I chose Hugo Boss Jour as one I really liked. I also received Avon Little Black Dress. I like using Avon perfumes as they aren't very expensive at all, so perfect for throwing in my handbag and using throughout the day to top up!

Finally for beauty products, I received the Body Shop Hemp hand cream from my Granny which is my favourite hand cream! I mentioned it in my Best beauty products of 2013 post. My boyfriends mum was extremely lovely and made me up a little stocking. Inside was lots of chocolate and also two Avon Frizz Control shampoos.

Other bits and bobs!

Every year from my parents I receive a calender and the one I love having lately is Fred and Ginger! I find it so cute and funny. They also bought me a desk calender for my desk at work. I received a couple of jumpers from them and one of them I wore as part of my Christmas day outfit!

I got a beautiful little charm for my Pandora bracelet. It's a little silver reindeer and 'Merry Christmas' is engraved on the bottom of the charm. My parents let me go into Build-A-Bear the other month to buy a toy for Christmas and I chose a panda!

Very, very kindly my parents bought me a voucher for a day spa near where we live. They offer wonderful treatments so I am very excited to go! My dad bought a voucher for my mum as well, so we will probably go there for the day together!

My boyfriend bought me some lovely things. In November we went to Birmingham for the weekend which was an early present for me. He also bought me some Christmas jumpers, teddy bears, a photo of us on a canvas and a ridiculous amount of chocolate! The whole box in the photo above is stuffed full with chocolate, plus I have three giant Thorntons reindeer, Santa and snowman that wont fit in.

I would love to know what you received for Christmas this year!

Christmas day makeup

I mentioned in my Christmas day outfit post that I would write about the makeup I wore that day, so here it is!

For my face makeup, I wore Laura Mercier Silk Crème foundation, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer and my Bobbi Brown Corrector. To set all of that I used my new Max Factor Crème Puff powder which I received for Christmas! I am planning to review this once I have used it more. Finally I used another product I received for Christmas - my Clarins Graphic Expression face and blush palette which is currently on sale here!

I kept my makeup pretty natural. My eyes just had some L'Oreal Superliner for definition and my Max Factor Clump Defy mascara. I dusted some Mac Charcoal Brown through my eyebrows and set them with Maybelline Browdrama.

I kept my lips very bare, just popping some of my tinted lip balm on them.

I would love to know what makeup products you received or used on Christmas day!

Christmas party makeup, hair & nails

I recently posted my Christmas party outfit and mentioned that I was going to post an accompanying makeup, hair and nails post. On a daily basis I tend to keep my makeup very natural, so I like making it a little more special when I go out for events.

Makeup

For foundation I went for my Bobbi Brown Longwear foundation because I knew this one would stay put all night. This is the only foundation that I apply with a traditional foundation brush, as I find it works a lot better than a buffing brush. I then used my Bobbi Brown Corrector underneath my eyes and my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer on any redness and blemishes.

I set this all with my Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I love this powder, especially when my makeup needs to last a while. I then dusted some of the Hourglass Ambient powder all over my skin. I don't like my face to be too matte, however my skin does get very oily so I find the best combination for me is to control the oil with a matte powder, then add some radiance powder to brighten my skin and stop it looking too matte.

To add some colour to my face, I buffed in some Dior Nude Tan Bronzer and applied a little bit of Nars Deep Throat blush on the apples of my cheeks.

Eye shadow is something I don't wear on an everyday basis, but when it comes to parties and meals, I always rely on my Mac eye shadows and an Urban Decay Naked palette. I wore Mac Bare Study paint pot and Mac Naked Lunch all over my lid. I then added some Woodwinked to the outer corner, crease and a little bit on my lower lash line.

To add a little definition to my upper lash line, I used my L'Oreal Superliner. Sometimes I prefer to use a black eye shadow as it's a little softer, however I decided to go for a liquid liner as it adds more definition and I felt it may last longer without smudging.

As there was a disco and it may get warm, I decided to wear a waterproof mascara to prevent any smudging. I only own one which is my Max Factor Clump Defy. I wear this very regularly anyway as it separates, lengthens and thickens my lashes.

I like my eyebrows to be defined, but I didn't want them too dark as my eyes and lips were darker than I usually go for. I used my Mac Charcoal Brown eye shadow through them and then set them with my new Maybelline Browdrama which I really like, as it defines my eyebrows without being too noticeable and full on.

I decided to wear a lip-gloss rather than a lipstick, so I went for Barry M Coral. I like this lip-gloss as it's very glossy and not sticky at all.

Hair

I don't really do a lot with my hair on a daily basis but I like making more of an effort for events. I washed and dried my hair in the morning and then before the meal in the evening, I used my Cloud Nine straighteners to straighten my hair, adding a little curl at the ends.

Nails

For my nails I wore my Deborah Lippmann 'Across the Universe' nail polish. I wore this over the top of Barry M 'Navy' as I don't find it opaque enough on it's own. I like wearing my Deborah Lippmann nail polish at Christmas as I think it looks really festive!
