October Favourites

Hello! November seems to have come around so quickly! It doesn't feel that long ago since I posted my September Favourites!

My first favourite is the Tigi S Factor Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner. I have written about this in my Hair and Clothing Haul which should be one of the next posts up. My hair is fairly thick and almost frizzy sometimes and using these really help smooth it down and make it very soft and manageable.

Next is my Kerastase Elixir Ultimate hair oil (review here) and this is honestly my favourite hair oil! It leaves my hair so shiny and just very very soft.

Lastly for hair is my Denman hair brush! If you have seen my London Haul then you will have read that I purchased a second hairbrush from Denman because I love this one so much! It does feel as though it just smooths over the top layer so I would recommend having another hair brush for properly brushing through any tangles in your hair. I love using this as the last step of my haircare routine as it just smooths over my hair and leaves it looking smooth and somehow more shiny!

Onto makeup, my next favourite is the YSL Touche Eclat Foundation (review here). This feels very lightweight on the skin and I love the dewy, radiant finish this gives.

Next is my Rimmel Stay Matte powder! I always need to powder my skin and I have tried more expensive powders but I find this one does the job really well.

I used to wear eye liner everyday but then I stopped using it altogether! It's only recently that I've started wearing it more and I love the L'Oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss. I really disliked this when I first bought it and put it to the back of my drawer. I have rediscovered it recently though and it's great! I can apply it in one or two sweeps across my top lash line and it is very black and lasts all day!

My last favourite is actually a person! I have seen other bloggers include people in their favourites so hopefully it's not weird. Haha! My favourite is Georgina from Live Laugh Lipstick and she is honestly one of the loveliest girls I have ever met. I love her blog and find all of her posts amazing so I would definitely recommend checking her blog out!

That is all my favourites throughout October!

What have your favourites been? Have you tried any of these products?

London Haul!

Hello! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram then you will have seen that I went up to London over the weekend. You may know that after College I really want to become a makeup artist and the visit to London was actually to go and see a makeup school and have a chat with them about the course. If anyone would like any more information on that then let me know, however this post is a haul to show you everything I bought!

On Sunday my mum and I went to Oxford Street and I was actually very good and only bought one thing! This was the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Treatment Conditioner. I haven't tried any of these products yet so I can't review them but this looked really nice and was only just over £1 because it was on sale! Bargain.

I wasn't as good on Monday though as I bought everything else! Haha. We went to Westfield and Oxford Street again.

First I went to Boots and bought the Botanics body brush because I have heard body brushing is meant to be good for you and your skin so thought I would pick one up! I also bought a few hair products!

The first product is the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant spray which I have actually just finished a bottle of so this was a repurchase.

Another (sort of) repurchase is the L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray which I love. I bought the Supreme Hold Infinite Shine one which I haven't tried before though.

When I was picking up the hairspray I also saw the L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Styling Spray's which say they will keep your hair in it's style for up to three days! There was one to keep hair straight for up to three days but I already have my John Frieda 3 Days Straight so I chose the curly one!

Lastly from Boots I bought a hairbrush! I have one other Denman brush and I love it so I thought I would try a different one from the brand. This one is a scented one which smells of strawberries and cream!

I next went to John Lewis and bought the Origins Out Of Trouble face mask. I have broken out quite a bit recently so was looking for something to use and I remembered seeing some reviews on this so thought I would try it!

In Selfridges I bought the Bumble and Bumble Texture Creme. I really wanted to try the Sunday Shampoo but John Lewis and Selfridges didn't have it. The lady in Selfridges said they were trying to order more in though! I only bought a mini texture creme because I wanted to try it first before buying a big one! My hair is pretty thick but it doesn't always have a lot of texture to it!

The Enrapture Totem Styler is on my Christmas list and after seeing DizzyBrunette3 hair styling routine, I really wanted the heated rollers as well! They look really nice and I am so excited to try them. They were on sale which made it even better!

My last purchase was a bag from Zara and I love it! It was a very impulsive buy - I saw a girl in the shop trying it on her arm in front of the mirror, liked it, searched for it, found it, bought it. Haha. It is massive and has so many compartments! I love having the shorter strap because I always carry my bag on my arm, however I really like having the option of the longer strap because I find sometimes if my back hurts as I carry so much then the longer strap is useful! I haven't used this bag yet but I will definitely be transferring all my things into it soon.

That is everything I bought from London! Let me know if you want a more in depth review on any of these items/products as I will be more than happy to write one once I have used them for longer!

Have you made any nice purchases lately?

Makeup and Skincare Haul

Hello! So I asked on Twitter the other week if you would like to see a haul post and I got replies with people saying they would love to! I actually went through everything I have bought recently and there's quite a lot, so I'm going to split this into two parts! This one is Makeup and Skincare and during the next couple of days I will post up a Hair and Clothing one so keep a look out.

I'll start with makeup and a couple of online orders which I made!

I bought the Millie Mackintosh false eyelashes in Mayfair! These look so pretty but I haven't worn them yet! They do come with lash glue but I had heard great things about the Duo Lash glue so I ordered that to try. When it arrived though, it had leaked everywhere so I couldn't use it, so I haven't tried the lashes yet!

I also ordered the This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle which is a tinted skin perfecter which is meant to leave skin radiant and hydrated whilst adding a subtle tint. It also contains lots of good things for the skin! The tube says it can be worn alone or under makeup. I have used this once and it left my skin looking okay but it went streaky on my cheeks and wouldn't blend for some reason, so I removed it. I will definitely be trying it again though because it may have just been me applying it in a hurry!

The last thing I ordered was the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder. I don't actually contour that much but that's because I didn't have a product I could use to contour! Since having this, I still don't contour that much but I like that I have it for those days I want to contour as it is such a lovely product! It is the best contour shade I have ever seen.

Next is something I have wanted for a little while now and it's the Mac eye shadow in Cranberry. This is definitely not a colour I would have thought of buying myself as it's a plum, red, pink colour! I saw it on a couple of blogs and it looked so pretty so I bought it and I really like it! It's such a beautiful colour and surprisingly easy to wear.

I love Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks! If you saw my 100 followers giveaway, you will know as that was the prize! I have wanted the colour Evasion for ages and I finally bought it! It is an absolutely gorgeous peachy, pink colour which is very hydrating and shiny. I have been wearing this quite a lot.

Lastly is a skincare brand. I bought the Nelsons Pure and Clear face wipes, face wash and moisturiser! I am still unsure about these. They smell and feel amazing on my skin but I have broken out since using them! I'm not sure if it's a good breakout and the products are drawing out impurities or whether it's bad. I hope it's not bad because apart from that I love the products! From today I am stopping using them for a while to see if my skin calms down.

That is all for the makeup and skincare haul! Keep a look out for my hair and clothing haul soon!

If you would like a full review on any of these products then please let me know as I would be more than happy to write one!

Have you tried any of these products?

Week In Instagram Photos #1

Hello! If you saw my week in photos post last week then you will have read that I am going to start posting on my Instagram more (beautybeckyblog) which I have!

Also, I know last week I posted a week in photos post, but I have called this #1 as it's my first week in Instagram photos post! Haha.

A photo of me that I posted in My First Rambling Post // I never usually shop in Primark, but I have seen some people wearing some nice clothes from there recently so went and done some shopping! // My new star pyjama bottoms from Primark! They are so incredibly soft, like a towel, fleece, fluffy material, plus I love stars! // The majority of the time I am wearing nail polish but I took it all off ready for my Shellac manicure! // My favourite jumper from Topshop. It will be in my clothing haul which should be up soon! // My french Shellac manicure! I used to get Shellac and forgot how much I loved it.

Those are all of my Instagram photos over the past week! I hope you enjoyed this post. I have scheduled this post so I am currently in London! Yay, I love London.

What have you been up to this week?

Tuesday 23 October 2012

My first rambling post!

Hello! All of my posts are beauty related and I thought it would be fun to start posting more personal, lifestyle, talky posts so you can get to know me better.

I am getting so excited for Christmas! I have bought a couple of presents for people already and finished most of my Christmas list, although I normally keep adding to it right up until Christmas! I was thinking about doing a Christmas Gift Ideas series of posts which I have started writing but it's actually pretty hard to come up with ideas.

I started the 30 day shred last Monday! Tomorrow is my last day of level one and I am really enjoying it! It's not easy but it's only 20 minutes per day which makes it super easy to fit in and even if it's hard, I know it wont be for too long. I took my measurements before I started so I can see how far I come when I finish. I had been wanting to do the 30 day shred for ages but had never gotten round to it! I then saw on Twitter that Georgina was starting it Monday so I thought it would be fun to start with someone else! She has written a post about it here!

I'm off to London on Sunday! I am so excited. I'm pretty interested in becoming a makeup artist when I leave college so I am going up to a makeup school to have a chat with them about the course! My mum and I are staying overnight so we have plenty of time for some shopping as well! I love Oxford Street for shopping and I also want to go to Westfield this time.

I am considering buying a DSLR camera! I have been looking online at the Canon 600D and I am going to have a look at some in shops to see which ones I like, because they are quite a bit of money! If you have any recommendations then let me know.

If you have read my Blog Loving Tag you will have seen that I have a Youtube channel. I really want to start making videos one day as I think it will be really fun! I love it when blogs have Youtube channels as well but I am nervous and I think it would be quite scary! I have filmed a couple of videos before and it's been really fun to film them and edit them but the thought of posting them online is worrying!

Let me know if you like these kind of posts! It was actually pretty fun to just write. Also if you have any questions you would like to ask me then let me know so I can answer them in future chatty posts!

Next Beauty Blogger Event

Hello! So the other day I was invited to my first event which was the Next Beauty Blogger Event, however unfortunately I was unable to attend! I was disappointed but luckily I was emailed with some fab photos, information and press release documents about the products!

I have looked through all the products and thought I would let you know which ones I am looking forward to seeing!

The first product is the Cashmere perfume. I have actually already smelt this a couple of times and it is gorgeous! Their perfumes are really good prices as well which is great. I have just been told that there is a whole Cashmere range! They have gift sets with body lotions, body washes and even lip balms as well! I will definitely be trying some of these. You can find these here.

The products I am most looking forward to seeing are the City Collection fragrances. They are a quartet of scents and each fragrance represents a great fashion city in the world.

I haven't smelt any of these fragrances yet but I am so excited to! They all sound incredible.

Milan has top notes of melon and green apple so it's very fruity. The heart notes are floral with magnolia, violet along with a woody base. This fragrance is confident and captures the fast paced Italian city.

London has top notes of lychee and citrus. The heart notes are rose, peony and cedar wood which makes this fragrance individual and creative.

New York has notes of orange blossom and jasmine making it elegant and floral.

Paris has notes of orchid, jasmine, ylang ylang, orange blossom and base notes of warm amber which makes it exotic, floral and sensual.

Each of these scents has an eau de parfum from £8, body crème from £8, four reed diffuser set for £18 and a 50 hour candle for £9.

I am a complete lover of candles and especially in the winter, I just love having a candle burning so I am very excited to try some of those! I think the prices are amazing as well meaning I can try more products.

As well as all their own scents and fragrances, Next also stock other great brands which you can find here.

They also do a variety of men's beauty products which is great, especially with Christmas along the way! If you are looking for some fab gift sets and products for Christmas, then have a look here!

Have you tried any of these products yet? I am so excited to try them and it's perfect time to start my Christmas shopping!

All photos are from here. I was given permission to use them. This is not a sponsored post.

Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray

My t zone gets pretty oily throughout the day, meaning I need to powder my skin to control it. Powder makes my skin look more matte than I would particularly like though so I wanted to find a product that would control my oily skin and keep my makeup on all day, without making my face too matte.

After reading a couple of reviews on setting sprays, I decided to buy one! I bought the Urban Decay De Slick setting spray for oily skin.

I don't apply this before my makeup as I use my Laura Mercier primer which works amazingly well for me! I apply my primer, foundation and concealer as usual and then spray this all over my face. I then apply my bronzer, blusher and highlighter and spray this over my face again.

I was slightly worried about not wearing any powder at all as this normally results in makeup disappearing off my t zone area!

This is absolutely amazing at setting my makeup! My makeup stays looking perfect all day and doesn't budge or melt off my face at all. It keeps all of my makeup in place looking as though I have just applied it which is great! My skin looks much fresher and more natural when using this compared to powder as well.

I do have to say though, it doesn't stop my t zone getting oily at all! My face looks shiny and I do end up having to powder my skin anyway to take away the shine.

I have found the best way to use this for me is to spray it on my face after applying primer, foundation and concealer. I then powder my skin about five minutes later. These two products together means that my makeup is set all day and my skin doesn't get shiny!

I am still on the fence about this one - it definitely sets my makeup very well! Even when using powder, I still found makeup on my t zone would come off, however this keeps my makeup perfect all day. It doesn't at all control the oil on my face though meaning my t zone is still shiny and I still have to powder.

I would definitely recommend this is you are looking for a spray to purely set your makeup so it doesn't budge all day but I'm still not sure if I would repurchase it because I have to powder anyway!

They also sell ones made for normal and dry skin which I think is great. You can buy this here for £19.

Have you ever tried a makeup setting spray?

Guest Post - Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Colour

Today's post is written by Hannah from Love Fashion, Obsess over Beauty. She is going to be talking about her Bobbi Brown lipstick!

Hi everyone! This is not Becky, this is Hannah! My blog is Love Fashion, Obsess Over Beauty which you can check out by clicking here.

Today I am going to do a review on a Bobbi Brown lipstick as a guest post on the lovely and wonderful Becky's blog!

I wanted a lipstick that was moisturising so my mum recommended Bobbi Brown lipsticks. This lipstick is Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Colour in number 59 Bellini Pink because I wanted a light pink lipstick. The packaging is sleek, luxurious and good quality. I also like how it is black and white which is simple yet effective.

The colour is a creamy light pink in a matte finish. I love the colour and it is exactly the colour I wanted. This lipstick glides on smoothly and leaves lips conditioned and moisturised and as I get very dry lips all the time it doesn't dry my lips. It also has a lovely creamy texture (hence it's called 'Creamy lip Colour') but I would recommend using a lip balm first otherwise it can sometimes make your lips look 'flaky' if they are dry. It is nicely pigmented but doesn't feel heavy on your lips.

The only downside is that it is is bit pricey but it is definitely worth investing into!

Hannah is a sweet girl so check out her blog here.

Kerastase Elixir Ultimate

I have tried a couple of hair oils and I have found that they are great at making my hair look and feel soft, but they don't really help smooth it down and combat any frizz. My current hair oil was running out so I decided that I would try the Kerastase Elixir Ultimate after reading some great reviews on it!

This hair oil is quite a thin consistency compared to some others I have tried. It's not really runny like water, but it's still fairly thin. I apply about two pumps of this to damp hair before blow drying and then about one pump onto dry hair every day after styling.

This makes my hair extremely soft and smooth! I couldn't believe how soft my hair looked and felt when I first used this - it's amazing. This hair oil leaves my hair looking very shiny and healthy as well. I cannot think of anything bad to say about it! The consistency being thin also means it doesn't weigh my hair down at all which is great. It's the only hair oil I have used that has really smoothed my hair and got rid of any frizzy, fluffy pieces!

It also smells absolutely amazing and I can actually smell it very subtly for a couple of hours after I apply it which is lovely!

This hair oil is fairly pricey, but I can honestly say after using it, I think it is worth it and I will definitely be repurchasing it!

You can find this here for £29.35!

What is your favourite hair oil? Have you tried any other products from Kerastase as I really want to try some more?!

Guest Post - How To Fix A Fake Tan Gone Wrong

Today's post is written by Vanessa who is the chief blogger for BesSkincare.

As the sun-drenched summer months fade into the cold, sun-deprived winter months many of us would love to hold on to that golden beach goddess glow we worked so hard to get.
So how does one do that? A simple faux glow of coarse!
While most self-tanners are easy to apply, they can sometimes look streaky, uneven, or even orange causing you to look like you just stepped off the Jersey Shore. Not exactly the best look for us ladies.
Luckily, I have 3 quick and easy solutions to help erase that botched fake tan.
Curious to know what they are? Good. Keep reading.

Sugar Sugar

I figured I would kick off this list on a sweet note that not only helps to erase that orangey hue but also tastes good. Not that I taste test my fake tan fixes....well....maybe.
But I digress.
What's so great about this quick remedy is not only is it simple but you probably already have the ingredients lying around your kitchen!
All you need is:
  • 1 cup of raw sugar
  • 3/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
It is important that you use fresh lemon juice as the store-bought already-squeezed lemon juice in a bottle can have added preservatives, and ultimately you don't want that on your skin.
In addition to that, it is also imperative that you use raw sugar as the granules are bigger and more coarse, helping to erase that faux glow in no time.
Once you have rounded up your ingredients, simply:
  • mix your ingredients in a bowl
  • once it is evenly combined, and there is no extra juice lingering, take a big scoop of your mixture
  • apply it directly to the areas you want to even out and gently rub it into your skin
  • continue to rub the mixture into your skin for about a minute
  • allow the scrub to sit on your skin for up to five minutes
  • wash off with warm water
Not only does this treatment make for a fantastic exfoliation but it should help your botched tan to fade, fast.

Scrub A Dub Dub

Is your skin too sensitive to be using large coarse granules of sugar? Why not try baking soda?
It still gives your skin a good exfoliation but it is a more gentle treatment that won't irritate sensitive skin.
All you need is:
  • 1/2 cup of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
Once you have your ingredients together, all you have to do is:
  • mix together your ingredients and stir well until you have a paste that can be easily spread
  • lather your mixture onto your skin and gently rub it in for about two minutes
  • similar to the sugar treatment, allow the baking soda to sit on your skin for up to five minutes
  • wipe off with warm damp towel
Because this treatment is less abrasive, you may have to repeat the process a second time but rest assured, it does work.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Looking for a fake tan fix with a little more oomph? Head to your nearest pharmacy and pick up some hair removal cream.
It's not exactly a natural solution but it is a powerful treatment that will help get rid of the horrendous hue almost instantaneously.
Just simply:
  • apply your hair removal cream directly to your skin
  • wipe off immediately
  • begin again until you notice your tan is gone
It may not be the most gentle of treatments but if you have overdone it on the self tanner and need to tone it down, this little trick is like the delete button of fake tans. Awesome, I know.
And there you have it! Three quick and easy tricks to fix your botched faux glow so no one ever has to know you looked a little bit like Snooki. You can now breathe a sigh of relief!

Vanessa blogs and vlogs about skincare at BesSkincare! I think this post was helpful so if you want to read more of her posts then check it out.

Tag: Blogging Love

I read this tag on Georgina's blog and thought it looked a lovely tag so I decided to do it! This tag was created by the lovely Kayleigh from Couture Girl.

Image from Kayleigh's blog.

1. Other Bloggers - I think other bloggers are the main reason why I love blogging so much. I love the fact that there are lovely girls that I can talk to and I can get advise from them. It's great because we are all bloggers so all understand exactly how one another feel and are very supportive. I love it when I get comments on my posts and I recognise the names of the people commenting. Everyone is so nice and I actually feel like I have made some genuine friends through blogging.

2. Own Space - I love makeup and not all of my friends in 'real life' are as obsessed with it as I am. I love that I can just come onto Blogger and ramble on about beauty products as much as I like! I have honestly sat down before and just taken photos and written post after post. I love being able to then hear other peoples thoughts on products I have reviewed.

3. Discovering Products - I have discovered so many new brands and products through blogging I never even knew existed! I would say almost all of the beauty products I buy I have bought after reading a review. I read blogs daily and am constantly adding new products to my shopping list of things to buy! Being able to read reviews on products first is great because it means I hardly ever buy a product and then regret it as I have been able to read all about it first.

4. Lovely Comments - It does take time to test a product, take all the photos, edit them, upload to Blogger, write the post etc, so when I get lots of lovely people commenting lovely things on my posts, it's great because it shows that I am helping people and they are appreciative of my posts. Even if I had no comments on my posts, I would still blog because I absolutely love it, however they are just the cherry on the cake!

5. Photography - One of my favourite things when writing a post is taking the photos for it. I love gathering all the products I am going to photograph and deciding where they should all go, the angle of the photo and then snapping away about 100 photos! My photos definitely aren't the best quality ever, however I just absolutely love taking them all! I'm actually considering getting myself a nice big camera like a DSLR or something, so if you have any advise or suggestions then please let me know!

Blogging Aim - My aim is to carry on blogging and enjoy it as much as I am now. I want to post as often as I can and be able to watch my blog grow. I actually have a Youtube channel set up with no videos, so I would like to eventually start making videos as well! I want to stay friends with the lovely girls I have met through blogging and hopefully one day attend a bloggers meet up or event!

Blogging Tip - I get emails from girls asking how I got followers on my blog and how more people can find their blog. My answer is to comment on other peoples blogs and interact with them. Don't spam the comment sections by saying 'come and look at my new blog' etc, but just comment nicely and the chances are they will click on you and have a look at your blog! Also post regularly and don't give up! I had no followers for quite a while on my blog but I carried on posting and then people started to find my blog! I find that guest posts are great as well - if a blogger is willing to let you guest post on their blog then ask them nicely and if they agree then that's another way for people to discover you!

Blog Inspiration - I have been reading Fleur's blog for ages now and it was her blog that inspired me to start my own! Her photos are amazing, she writes in a lovely way and everything she reviews I want! I read absolutely loads of fantastic, amazing blogs and I get a lot of my inspiration from those as I love reading other blog posts and they inspire me to write more and make me happy that I am part of this blogging community!

If you want to do this tag then I tag all of you and please leave it as a link in the comments below as I would love to read it!

Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Cream

The Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme in Iced Gold had been on my wishlist for a really long time! I had heard only amazing reviews on it and was always very tempted by it, however I just never wore highlighters enough so I didn't think it was worth buying. Lately though I have started using highlighters more and more, so thought it was time to add this to my collection!

This is such a gorgeous highlighter colour and lovely to apply. It's a cream which I prefer as I find powder highlighters can sometimes be a little too dramatic and hard to blend. It's very soft and creamy in the pan and blends smoothly onto the skin. Sometimes I find when I apply cream products, they can move my foundation or blush underneath, but this one doesn't at all! It just glides on smoothly over the top of my make up. You can apply this onto bare skin as well!

I use this on my cheekbones and under my brow bone usually, however sometimes I do pop a tiny bit down the centre of my nose and on my cupids bow as well. It adds a beautiful, dewy and natural radiance to the skin. This highlighter also lasts all day on my skin which is a bonus!

Another reason I took so long to buy it was although people were raving about it and it looked lovely in photos and swatches, I never thought it looked amazing in the photos! It is hard to do this product justice in a photo but honestly, it looks absolutely beautiful and amazing in real life! I would definitely recommend it!

This highlighter is available here for £17.

What's your favourite highlighter? I've become addicted and want more!

September Favourites

This month I have been trying out a lot of new products so here are my favourites! I found it quite hard to narrow it down so this post wasn't too long, but I eventually did!

First up is Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I have heard great things about this product and after reading Charlotte's Review I went straight out and bought it! When I first bought it, I applied it on my cheeks only because the rest of my face can get slightly oily. It was amazing at making my cheeks look healthy, bright and dewy. My t-zone gets slightly oily and then having my cheeks very glowing was a bit much so I have now started using it just along my cheekbones over my foundation rather than all over my cheeks. I love using it like this! It adds an absolutely beautiful dewy, healthy glow to my cheekbones.

Next is my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer. I have gone through about three tubes of this so it's an old favourite but I have been relying on it lately! I have had quite a few blemishes pop up and this concealer is incredible at instantly covering them! I just need a tiny dot of this and it will cover the blemish and redness so it disappears. It has quite a thick consistency but it doesn't feel heavy or look cakey.

Nars Laguna bronzer is something that has been on my wishlist for ages and I'm so glad I finally bought it! I have written a full review of this here. I am quite pale and this bronzer is the perfect shade! It's not orange and it's not muddy - it's the perfect sun kissed, bronze shade! I love it and it blends amazingly well onto my skin.

Benefit Browzings is probably my absolute favourite of this month. My eyebrows are brown and naturally quite thick so I never used to fill them in. I started a few months ago and I just used pencils which I didn't personally like. I then started using powder and preferred it a lot as I found it easier to use and left my eyebrows looking more natural and soft. My friend always has lovely eyebrows and told me she used Browzings and convinced me to buy it! You get a powder and a wax. I think they advise to use the wax first to shape and fill in the brows and then set them with powder. The lady at Benefit actually advised I mix the two together on the brush and apply them to my eyebrows as it will look more natural and not be two layers. I really like using it like this and I love how my eyebrows look.

My last favourite is a hair oil and it's the VO5 Moisture Soak Elixir. This hair oil is amazing and leaves my hair looking and feeling soft, smooth and shiny. Its very affordable as well which makes it even better! I put this on damp hair before I shampoo and condition. I focus more on the ends but I do bring it up mid length and there are arrows on the tube to advise how much product to use per time. When I started washing this out the first time I used it, I could already feel how incredibly soft my hair was. Sometimes I find products make my hair feel soft when it's wet but then as soon as it's dry it doesn't feel any different to before. When I dry my hair after using this though, it still feels amazingly soft and so smooth.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what your favourites are and I will check them out! Thank you for reading!

Guest Post - Bourjois Foundations Comparison

Today's post is written by Molly from Beauty Resident!

Hey everyone!

No this isn't Becky, it's Molly, and I run the beautyresident blog, which you can check out here:

beautyresident - a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog

but today, I'm doing this guest post on (the lovely) Becky's blog, and I'm going to give my verdict on the difference(s) between Bourjois' healthy mix foundation and healthy mix serum foundation!

When it comes to skin, I do prefer to go for a slightly more expensive brand, rather than paying around 5-6 pounds for a foundation, I feel the quality of the product generally does get better the more you pay, but I don't want to be spending £30+ on a foundation, because let's be honest, I don't feel the need to! SO for 10-11 pounds, I think Bourjois have set a reasonable price.

original healthy mix foundation - £9.99 for 30ml  @ Superdrug

healthy mix serum - £10.99 for 30ml @ Superdrug

Both bottles have a press down pump, which is average in a drugstore foundation, so I don't really mind. However, I find the orginal healthy mix pump system is totally different, as there is a kind of 'bar' which moves up as the product runs out to show you how much is left, which is a good concept, but it doesn't work that well and I often find that the pump doesn't get any product out for a long time, and in the mornings when I'm doing my makeup, I don't have time to mess around trying to get the product to come out of the pump properly.

The original comes in 8 shades, which isn't a lot, I know, but the shades that they have produced are very good and cover a wide spectrum for different ethnicities. However, shade 51, (the lightest) isn't pale enough to suit very pale people, so I wish there was a shade 50, which was lighter. However, the healthy mix serum only comes in 6 shades, so it's less likely for you to find the perfect match.

I'd say both foundations have a light-medium coverage, however both are very build-able if a heavier application is what you want. The Healthy Mix Serum is more of a gel texture compared to the original foundation, but both are extremely easy to apply, (and blend,) and they both give a radiant glow, but semi-matte, semi-dewy finish.

The Healthy Mix Foundation contains different natural fruit extracts which are:

-apricot for radiance,
-melon for hydration,
-apple as an anti-oxidant,
-and ginger for energy.

The Healthy Mix Serum also uses vitamin rich fruit therapy, like: lychee, goji berries and pomegranate which give an anti-fatigue, radiant effect. They have the same fruity scent which is a dream to apply to the skin, whereas some foundations can smell horrible!

Also, both foundations claim to last for up to 16 hours, which I might be able to make a firm decision on if I ever wore them for that long, but I never have, but I can say they are both fairly long lasting, and they last better on the drier areas of my face, so if you have excessively oily skin, I would recommend either heavily powdering at the beginning of the day, or re-applying half way through the day.

So overall, I prefer the packaging of the healthy mix serum foundation, because it's fuss free and simple to use. Also, I find both have very similar scents and lasting power. And finally, I think the original healthy mix is better because there are more shades and it is at a cheaper price!

So thanks for reading, and check out my blog if you'd like!
