Mac Soft and Gentle

Hello! I hope you are all having a lovely week. I have actually been quite busy lately and yesterday was my first day of not having to go out in about a week, so I made the most of it and stayed in my pyjamas!

If you watch my Youtube videos, you will have seen a little while ago I bought the Mac Soft and Gentle highlighter. This is something that had been on my wishlist for a very long time, however I was never sure enough to buy it!

I had read numerous reviews and seen loads of swatches of this and it always looked too glittery for my liking! All of the reviews I read though said it was a lovely highlighter so I decided to buy it anyway!

The colour in the pan is gorgeous and on my finger, it's still gorgeous. The first time I applied this to my face though, it was very glittery! I used a little brush to sweep this along my cheekbones and not much colour transferred at all, mainly glitter particles.

I did mention this in my haul video and someone nicely commented saying if I buff it in, it could help. I have tried buffing it in and it does actually help a little bit, and I find a lot more colour is added so it just looks sheeny and shimmery.

I am a little bit disappointed with this, however I am very glad someone suggested buffing it in as it looks a lot nicer when I do.

I find this actually looks a lot prettier and is much more wearable down the centre of my nose compared to my cheekbones! I will definitely carry on using this, maybe just not everyday as it can look a little bit too much!

I am sure I will get a lot more use out of this during the Summer as well!

This is available here for £21.50.

Have you tried this highlighter? I would love to know what you think of it :) Please let me know if you have any other powder highlighter suggestions!

  2. Found this review really helpful! I've almost caved in and bought it so many times but was always a little unsure. I love the look of it in the pan - shame it doesnt transfer amazingly well though. Might give it a whirl in summer :) xx

  9. I absolutely love this. Mine doesn't seem to be as glittery as yours though initially i did only use it for going out. now i wear it most days so maybe the glittery parts are on the top layer and it becomes easier to buff it in when the top layer has gone??

who knows! I love the effect it has in photos on your face, massive difference!

    1. Loads of people seem to love this so maybe mine is just very glittery! Haha :) Ooh that's a good thought, I have used products before that have lots of glitter on the top and hardly any underneath so I will definitely keep using this to see :) xxx

  12. This is one of my absolute favorite products! its a beautiful highlighter, and doubles up as a simple but put together eyeshadow when traveling! I apply it as a highlighter with a stippling brush to not get too much product on my face.

  13. Yes! I thought about how glittery it was, by the end of the day you end up with glitter just all over your face.
It's the most beautiful product and applied right it looks incredible, but the glitter lets it down in my book.
I'm really liking Benefit Watts Up at the moment instead.

  14. On the MAC website, they have Mineralize Skinfinish in Natural, which comes in 10 different shades. Then they have Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and Gold Deposit. I think the only difference is the Natural range isn't shimmery, but the other two are. I'm not sure though! xxxx

  24. I do love it but I find it is very heavy too. Mine also had an unfortunate meeting with a spilled bottle of water in my bag!! I really want to try Mac Lightscapade as it looks a more finely milled option and Benefit Watts up looks beautiful. My every day highlighter at the moment is MeMeMe sun beam. M xx
