Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

Hello! The Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm* is actually the first BB cream I have tried! BB creams never appealed to be very much as I do prefer higher, buildable coverage on my skin but I was still really excited to try this. Urban Decay say this cream will minimize pores, lines, wrinkles and redness leaving skin firmer in eight weeks! This BB cream does seem quite focused on anti ageing which I can't test so I am planning on letting my mum use it! If you would like another review in a couple of months then let me know and I will update you on what my mum thinks.

This BB cream only comes in one shade which did worry me a bit as I am very pale. It is quite dark and almost orange for my skin tone, however because it's very sheer it does look okay once I have blended it in and leaves my skin looking slightly tanned and sun-kissed!

The coverage is very sheer which is what I expected from a BB cream. It is actually very very slightly buildable though. The first time I tried this, when I applied more to build the coverage, my skin was just getting more orange! After a little while though, it seems to settle into my skin and almost adapt to my skin tone a bit so it doesn't stay very orange for long which is amazing!

You can see in the photos above how dark it is for me but like I said, because it is so sheer then I can just about get away with it! The first time I applied this, I didn't use a moisturiser or primer first as this says it hydrates and primes skin itself. I also didn't powder on top because I wanted to see how long it lasted on it's own. This left my skin looking very dewy and glowy which was lovely for the first half of the day, however after a while my skin just became very oily and throughout the day this did wear off.

Now when I use this, I moisturise and powder my skin as normal as I find that works best for me. If I need this to last well all day (which I usually do) then I use a separate primer as well! When I do this, it does last pretty well on my skin. My skin does start to get oily around lunchtime but I just pop a little more powder on and it's fine!

You only need a teeny tiny amount of this product as a little goes a long way! I tend to pop a thin layer of this on and work it into the skin well to blend it, let that sit and then work another layer onto the skin if I want to build the coverage a little bit. If I put too much on at once then I just look like a baked bean.

The only real negative I have about this product is the packaging as I think it would be better in a bottle with a pump. The cream itself is very thin and runny which means it just dribbles out of the tube all by itself! Every time I take the lid off, the product is all in the lid and quite a lot gets wasted.

I have heard that BB creams can actually work quite well under foundations so I may give that a go as by itself, this doesn't provide enough coverage for me. This does leave my skin very dewy so I may test it under foundation to see if it gives my skin a little boost of radiance.

I don't know how this colour would look on dark skin tones but I can just about make it work on my very pale complexion, so I imagine if you are a couple of shades darker then me this would be perfect for you!

This is available here for £23 from Look Fantastic.

I do really like this and I think in the summer time when it is hot and I want a little bit more colour on my face, this will be ideal!

Have you tried this BB cream? What is your favourite BB cream?

    1. I agree, I love more coverage so I think I will try this under foundation soon :) it is really dark - it shocked me! I wish it came in different shades but because its so sheer I think it would just about work for a lot of different skin tones :) xx

  6. I'm a massive UD fan, and literally love everything from them, but I'm really put off by this product, it's definitely too dark for me and I'm not a BB cream fan anyway!

  11. I've been advised to try a BB cream because I'm a foundation virgin, so this does sound pretty good. Though, the shade does look dark. If it is sheer like you say, maybe I could get away with it but I'd hate tapollo like Amy Childs. :( x

    1. Ooh I think either a BB cream or tinted moisturiser would be great for you then! Honestly, I don't think many people are paler than me and I can just about make this work if I blend it well so I think it would be okay! If you're worried though, most BB creams come in different shades so maybe look for another one! :) xx

  13. The only thing that puts me off about trying this is the colour! It's far too dark for me but I find that's the case about most BBs :(

    Great review!

  14. BB creams don't tend to suit my oily skin unfortunately, I have one from the Body Shop but it leaves me a shiny mess after a few hours :( xx
