Tag: How Much Is Your Face Worth?

I have seen quite a few people do this tag and thought it was quite interesting! I have just read Aimee from Petticoats and Pansies tag of this and I loved it, so I decided to do it myself.

I recently posted my everyday make up routine so you may already have an idea of the products I use, however some of them have changed since then so I still wanted to post this tag!

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - £28
YSL Touche Eclat Foundation in BR10 - £28
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair - £4.19
YSL Touche Eclat in 1 - £25
Mac MSF Natural Powder in Light - £21
Nars Laguna Bronzer - £25
Mac Melba Blush - £17.50

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown - £2.99
L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara - £10.99

Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick in 170N - £21

Total - £183.67

I use quite a lot of higher end products so I knew it would be quite a bit! I don't wear eye shadows on a daily basis so I didn't think it would be quite this much though! I wouldn't want to work it out with eye shadows included.

I hope these make up products don't all run out at the same time!

I tag all of you to do this and if you have done this tag please link it below as I would love to read it.

Guest Post - Top Five Products For Dry Skin

Today's post is written by the lovely Sarah from Some Sparkle and Shine. She is going to be talking about her top five products for dry skin!

Hey guys,

So, a little introduction seems to be in order right now. Well, I’m Sarah and I blog over at somesparkleandshine.blogspot.com. You can also find me on twitter here! A few facts that you may want to know about me might include the fact that I have major social anxiety, I’m obsessed with shopping and I have enough lipsticks to last my life time (and that’s really not that much of an exaggeration! It’s quite shameful).

I debated a number of topics for this post, before finally settling on writing a little something about skincare. Essentially, this is a list of my top 5 skincare products for dry skin. Now, I claim to be no expert! In fact, until recently I didn’t even get the importance of having a good skincare regime was to my skin, but after settling on a routine I wanted to share some products that really helped me out.

I have always suffered with dry skin, and it’s not until recently that I settled into a routine for my skin that I finally have it under control. Over the years, I’ve tried something from nearly every range at the drugstore, and a few higher end bits too. But, here are my top 5 products for people with very dry skin.

5. MAC Cleanse Off Oil (£7.50 or £18)

This is my miracle product. I’ve tried so many different makeup removers and this is by far the best for two reasons. The first is that it dissolves all makeup almost instantly. It takes one quick swipe of this on a cotton pad and all is gone. The second is because it’s an oil, meaning it injects a little more moisture into the skin than something water based!

4.  Botanics Rose Water Toning Spritz (£3.99, at the moment anyways)

Everyone seems to be raving about this for one reason or another, and I’m really no different. I don’t really use this as toner, but more as a refresher for my makeup. I find that with my dry skin foundation can look dull after a while, no matter what the formula and I find that it tends to cling to all those nasty dry patches. That’s not such an attractive look, so I remedy that with a spritz of this all over my face. It brightens my makeup up, and leaves me feeling refreshed.

3. Lancome Tonique Confort Rehydrating Toning Lotion (£21.00)

I have only really just started using toners because I’ve never really seen the point in them, but now I’ve started using this I won’t turn back. I’m not entirely sure what it does as a toner, but this makes my skin feel amazing. It’s just that extra bit of moisture that my skin needs first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

2. Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum for Dehydrated Skin (£4.59)

This is something that I brought ages ago and never really gave it the time of day. It was really cheap, and somewhat of an impulse buy. I used it once, and stashed it away for an unknown point in time. I had actually forgotten about it until I sorted through my stash of skincare a week or so ago. I now couldn’t go without. I used it morning and night under my moisturiser, and it’s brilliant. It hydrates my skin, and I feel that since I’ve been using it my makeup lasts that little bit longer! That’s a win, win situation right there. I have recently run out of this, but as soon as I can get out into Superdrug I will repurchase this without even thinking about it.

1. Clinique Moisture Surge Intense (£30)

I cannot say enough about this! I mean that in all honesty. I cannot find one bad thing about this product, except maybe the price but when it’s a good as it is I think I can justify paying out for it every now and then. I’ve tried two other Clinique moisturisers, and none of them even compare to this bad boy. It works wonders for my skin. It injects so much moisture into my skin, it has a lovely cooling effect because it’s a ‘cream-gel’ formula and if I’m having any breakouts or anything like that it doesn’t make them any worse. Some moisturisers for dry skin can make breakouts worse, and even spread them a little, but this doesn’t do anything like that.

I hope some of these products can help out your dry skin, and don’t forget to comment if you have any miracle products for your skin that you just have to shout about!

Thanks for reading guys,

Sarah xo

August Favourites!

I have been doing quite a lot of shopping lately meaning that this month I have quite a lot of new favourites. I'm not going to ramble too much about each product otherwise this post will be really long!

Let's start with skincare!

My first favourite is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir which I have reviewed here. This is a refreshing facial mist that has lots of benefits for the skin. It smells absolutely amazing and just makes my skin look and feel very refreshed, smooth and glowing.

Alpha H liquid gold has been my saviour product and I have a review here. This is the main product that has really really helped my skin. If I have a blemish, I know that within one use of this the blemish will be smaller and then one or two more and it will be gone! My skin is now looking a lot clearer, even and healthy.

Alpha H has helped my skin look a lot clearer which has meant I don't feel the need for high coverage foundation. So I went to Harvey Nichols and bought myself the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser! I am going to be posting a full review of this soon. I love this tinted moisturiser - it looks very natural and my skin looks healthy and radiant.

My newest purchase is a Mac blush in Melba. This is a gorgeous matte coral peach. I have never used a blusher than compliments my skin tone as much as this one! It makes me look slightly tanned whilst also adding a lovely wash of peach to my cheeks.

If you read my blog a lot, it may not be too much of a surprise that I love Essie nail polishes. I am thinking of doing a Essie nail polish collection post soon so please let me know in the comments if you would like that! I received Mint Candy Apple as a birthday gift and I love it! All the Essie nail polishes I own in general are a favourite of mine though!

Lastly is a fragrance and it is Vivienne Westwood Naughty Alice. This is the best smelling perfume I have ever owned! I had this last Christmas as a gift and as soon as I ran out a couple of months I bought another one. Ylang ylang is the heart note (I had to Google this - it's a plant!), black rose is the top note and carnal violet is the base note. This perfume smells absolutely incredible. It lasts all day on me as well which is a bonus. It smells pretty much just as strong at the end of the day as it does at the start!

Those are all of my favourites for August! Have you tried any of these products? I would love to know your opinions on them! Also let me know if you would like an Essie collection post!

Guest Post - Top Three Blushers

Today's post is written by the beautiful Charlotte from J'adore. She is going to be talking about her top three blushes!

Hello! I'm Charlotte from J’adore and am so pleased to be doing a blogpost for the lovely Becky! She has been someone who followed my blog really early on, always comments on my posts and is in general a really lovely person! Anyway, today I will be talking about my top 3 blushers that I have really been loving over the past few months so I hope you enjoy..

1. Benefit Hervana blusher – I was bought this for my birthday in March and didn’t really use it a lot at first due to the awkward packaging, however once I got past that, I’ve found myself reaching for this more and more. I apply this with the Real Techniques blush brush, swirl the brush around so I reach all of the different colours, and it gives a really natural, pink colour to the cheeks. I can’t say it lasts the longest time of my face, but it’s a gorgeous colour and great for daytime wear for school/work as it’s very subtle. The price is steep, £23.50 for a blusher, is unjustifiable for some people, however I have used this a lot and it hasn’t even made the slightest dent so it’s going to last me a long time!

2. Topshop cream blusher in High Five – I’m not sure if you can actually buy this anymore but I would recommend any Topshop cream blusher to be honest! The formulation of this blusher is that you apply it as a cream blusher but it dries as a powder and oh lordy lord, I absolutely love this amazing hot pink ! As you can see, I actually hit pan on this blusher, and is it just me who as soon as they hit pan, stops using it because they don’t want it to run out...just me? I just apply it with my fingers, as it’s ridiculously easy to blend in, and even though it looks pretty scary, it can create a very natural look, but is easily buildable as well and for the price of £8, you can’t really go wrong!

3. Benefit Coralista blusher – This is a huge cult favourite which I am sure you have heard loads about. This is an absolutely gorgeous coral, obviously, colour which is very pigmented, so please beware when applying, as clowns are not attractive and I did have this experience the first time I wore it, oops! This little trio was only £15 I think which is crazy when 1 of their blusher’s is £23.50, yet you are getting Coralista, Dandelion and Dallas in packaging that is perfect for travelling so if you can get your hands on it, do!

Top Left - Dallas
Bottom Left - Dandelion
Bottom Right - Coralista
Left to Right - Dallas, Dandelion, Coralista, Hervana, High Five

I hope you have enjoyed this post, if you have, I would love for you to have a look at my blog! Thank you to Becky for letting me guest post on here, I really appreciate it!

Guest Post - My Make Up Bag

Today's post is written by the lovely Zoe from The Beauty Shelf. She is going to be talking about her everyday make up items!

Hi, I'm Zoe and I write a little blog called the beauty shelf. Today I'm going to be showing you the contents of my make up bag and my everyday makeup.

The floral makeup bag I use is from Primark and has two compartments for storing things in. Its also waterproof, which is fab.

Two of the main foundations I use are Revlon Colorstay in Ivory and Estee Lauder Double Wear Light in 01. The revlon foundation is a better match for my skintone but I like the semi glow finish of the estee lauder double wear light. They both offer good coverage but the estee lauder one is lighter.

My current powder is Rimmel Clear Complexion. I'm on the fence with this one as it adds a nice finish but it doesnt offer great oil control which is something my oily skin needs.

Two of my favourite concealers are the Dior Nudeskin and Lily Lolo Mineral concealer. I use Dior under my eyes and it covers dark cicles really well without looking cakey. The Lily Lolo is great for covering blemishes. I've repurchased it so many times, it truly is a brilliant concealer.

For cheeks, I use MAC's blush in stunner (limited edition). Its perfect for adding a natural flush. I also use MAC's extra dimension skinfinish in superb (limited edition). It adds a really nice peachy nude glow for dewy cheeks.

On eyebrows I use Smashbox Brow Tech. The dark shade is a good match for my brows but I'll probably look for something cheaper when it runs out.

On my eyes I also like to use MAC's paint pot in morning frost, a shimmery beige that brightens the eye area and is perfect for wearing day or night. I then use MAC extended play lash mascara to add volume and lengthen my lashes.

Big thank you to Becky for letting me post on her blog today!!

Mallzee

I was contacted last week by Mallzee and asked if I wanted to know more about them and blog about their website. I had a read through the information I was sent and signed up to their website straight away because it sounded great! Just a little disclaimer, this post is not sponsored, I did not have to write it, I was just asked if I wanted to and I did. Everything I write is my own opinion!

First up, some information! Mallzee is a online shopping site and they have over 200 brands such as Feel Unique, New Look, St Tropez and Urban Outfitters. Basically, you chose your favourite brands to add to your mall and Mallzee shows you products matching your personal style and likes.

Do you want to know the best part? The reason I think they are fab and what makes them so different is that Mallzee is very social. You can invite your friends to visit your Mallzee where you can all discuss products and star your favourite items. You can create polls to gather friends opinions before you buy products as well which is great! Mallzee also provide discounts if you purchase products through the mall. If friends purchase items through your mall then you get paid!

I think this website will be so fun to use! It is a different view on shopping by allowing people to discuss opinions and experience with different products. I think it's great that you can create polls and your friends can star their favourite items before you go purchasing them!

Mallzee launch later this year but you can sign up now and be entered in a competition!

I really enjoyed finding out all about Mallzee and I think it will be a fun website to use! Let me know what you think?!

This is not a sponsored post. I was emailed with some information and I thought it sounded fun so I chose to write about it.

Topshop Infrared Lipstick

Infrared lipstick has been on my wishlist for many many months now. The Topshop in my town doesn't have make up and when I have gone to other Topshops I have forgotten about it (too busy trying on all of their clothes probably!) I finally purchased it the other day and I have been absolutely loving it!

First of all, the packaging is so cute! It's not at all luxurious but it feels strong enough to just be thrown in my bag and the stripes are sweet.

Infrared is an orange, red lipstick and it is such a pretty colour. I have seen a few bloggers wearing this and it looks so beautiful but I couldn't imagine myself wearing orange lipstick!

As soon as I got home I put it on for the first time and I fell in love with it straight away. I have worn it everyday since! Usually I wear very neutral lipsticks during the day (think Mac Hue) so this is a big difference for me to be wearing orange but it's such a lovely colour! It's really pigmented as well - this photo below is with two sweeps of lipstick!

This lipstick is surprisingly moisturising. If I don't apply lip balm first then it doesn't matter as this lipstick will not cling to any dry bits and it actually helps moisturise my lips itself! It feels quite hydrating and really soft. It makes my lips look and feel super soft and smooth.

This lasts a good few hours on me as well (a bonus for a moisturising lippy) and wears so nicely!

I love this lipstick and what's even better - it costs £8! You can buy it here.

Have you tried any Topshop lipsticks? Which ones do you want or would you recommend?

Alpha H Liquid Gold

Alpha H liquid gold has been on my wishlist for a while now and I am so glad I finally bought it. This review has been requested so I'm guessing it's on a couple of your wishlists as well! I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now and I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. I would usually use a skincare product for longer before posting a review, however the results in my skin have been so soon and I can't wait any longer!

It first ever made it's way onto my wishlist after reading Ruth's fabulous post all about it! In basic terms, Alpha H Liquid Gold contains glycolic acid which helps brighten, firm, add radiance and even out the skin. For a more in depth description of what it does then have a little read of Ruth's post!

I cleanse my skin as usual (with my Emma Hardie balm, surprise, surprise!) and then I soak a cotton pad with this, apply it to my face and neck and I am done. You don't use a moisturiser with this! It does leave my skin feeling slightly tingly but nothing crazy.

I don't get many blemishes at all but for some reason I had quite a lot (for me at least) a couple of weeks ago, so this arrived just in time! I can honestly say after one use of this my blemishes were a lot smaller and the redness had settled down. It took two uses (yes, only two) for all of my blemishes to go (except one, that little monster!)

I do get new blemishes popping up now and then but if I use this in the evening, they have gone by the morning. I have used this five times now and  I currently have about three tiny blemishes which are new. All of my redness has completely disappeared as well which has left my skin tone very even and clear.

My skin looks very healthy and radiant as well which is amazing. Since using this I have actually started wearing tinted moisturiser rather than foundation because my skin is looking so much better! (I have a review of my new tinted moisturiser coming up.) I always wear foundation so to switch to a tinted moisturiser is incredible and I don't really need any concealer either because this this product clears up any blemishes and redness!

Alpha H liquid gold isn't to be used every night so you can still slap on some lovely moisturiser now and again! You use this every other night.

I absolutely love this product! For me at least, I can use it knowing that within a couple of uses my small blemishes will all disappear and more stubborn ones will be noticeably smaller.

I hope this review has been helpful! Have you tried this product? Is it on your wishlist?
