Hello! I hope you are all having a lovely week. I have actually been quite busy lately and yesterday was my first day of not having to go out in about a week, so I made the most of it and stayed in my pyjamas!
If you watch my Youtube videos, you will have seen a little while ago I bought the Mac Soft and Gentle highlighter. This is something that had been on my wishlist for a very long time, however I was never sure enough to buy it!
I had read numerous reviews and seen loads of swatches of this and it always looked too glittery for my liking! All of the reviews I read though said it was a lovely highlighter so I decided to buy it anyway!
The colour in the pan is gorgeous and on my finger, it's still gorgeous. The first time I applied this to my face though, it was very glittery! I used a little brush to sweep this along my cheekbones and not much colour transferred at all, mainly glitter particles.
I did mention this in my haul video and someone nicely commented saying if I buff it in, it could help. I have tried buffing it in and it does actually help a little bit, and I find a lot more colour is added so it just looks sheeny and shimmery.
I am a little bit disappointed with this, however I am very glad someone suggested buffing it in as it looks a lot nicer when I do.
I find this actually looks a lot prettier and is much more wearable down the centre of my nose compared to my cheekbones! I will definitely carry on using this, maybe just not everyday as it can look a little bit too much!
I am sure I will get a lot more use out of this during the Summer as well!

This is available here for £21.50.
Have you tried this highlighter? I would love to know what you think of it :) Please let me know if you have any other powder highlighter suggestions!
I actually love Soft and Gentle! It's so beautiful, but I definitely agree that it's not for an everyday use! Great review hun! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you get on with it well! I think I was expecting a really wearable highlighter so it shocked me how glittery it is! :) xx
DeleteFound this review really helpful! I've almost caved in and bought it so many times but was always a little unsure. I love the look of it in the pan - shame it doesnt transfer amazingly well though. Might give it a whirl in summer :) xx
ReplyDeleteYay I am so glad! That's exactly how I felt :) I would still recommend it but just not if you're looking for a natural, everyday highlighter :) Let me know if you try it lovely xxx
DeleteIt looks beautiful! I don't mind glitter so I'd love to own this, but I have too much makeup as it is ;) I love pyjama days, glad you enjoyed yours :)

I'm glad you love it :) xx
DeleteIs it worth buying in a different shade? Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI just saw that you have 995 followers! I have 1! You deserve it! Xxxx
Apart from the limited edition shades, I only think they have one more in Gold Deposit which is darker! Aww thank you so much :) xx
DeleteI was in MAC today, and they had a few different shades, but I'm not sure if they are limited edition. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI will let you know if I buy one! xxxx
Ooh okay thank you, I will definitely have a look! xxx
DeleteI've just got this and love it! I've found using a duo-fibre brush makes it look more wearable xx
ReplyDeleteOoh okay, thank you! I have been using my Real Techniques contour brush but I will definitely try my less dense, duo fibre brush tomorrow! :) xx
DeleteI absolutely love this. Mine doesn't seem to be as glittery as yours though initially i did only use it for going out. now i wear it most days so maybe the glittery parts are on the top layer and it becomes easier to buff it in when the top layer has gone??
ReplyDeletewho knows! I love the effect it has in photos on your face, massive difference!

Loads of people seem to love this so maybe mine is just very glittery! Haha :) Ooh that's a good thought, I have used products before that have lots of glitter on the top and hardly any underneath so I will definitely keep using this to see :) xxx
DeleteI wish mine still looked as new as yours, I wear this everyday and I'm absolutely in love with it. I know what you mean by it can sometimes be a little too much, nevertheless I still love it! Xx
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely but I agree, a little much sometimes for everyday! :) xx
DeleteWhat camera do you use?
ReplyDeleteA Canon 1100d :) x
DeleteI have this product too! It lasts for ages! I don't think it looks too glittery once it is applied you your face with a brush. Such a lovely post. Come and say hello to us on our page if you like :)

I think it will be a but more wearable in the summer so I'm excited to use it more then! :) xx
DeleteThis is one of my absolute favorite products! its a beautiful highlighter, and doubles up as a simple but put together eyeshadow when traveling! I apply it as a highlighter with a stippling brush to not get too much product on my face.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I wil definitely try it with my stippling brush! Ooh and I will try it as an eyeshadow too! I can imagine it will look gorgeous :) xx
DeleteYes! I thought about how glittery it was, by the end of the day you end up with glitter just all over your face.
ReplyDeleteIt's the most beautiful product and applied right it looks incredible, but the glitter lets it down in my book.
I'm really liking Benefit Watts Up at the moment instead.

I'm glad you agree :) it's a lot more glittery then I was expecting :) ooh thank you, I will definitely have a look at that :) I have been using the Loreal lumi primer as a highlighter recently which is gorgeous! :) xx
DeleteOn the MAC website, they have Mineralize Skinfinish in Natural, which comes in 10 different shades. Then they have Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and Gold Deposit. I think the only difference is the Natural range isn't shimmery, but the other two are. I'm not sure though! xxxx
ReplyDeleteThe msf naturals aren't highlighters, they are just all over face powders :) thank you for looking though lovely! :) xx
Deletei really wanted to try this, but i'm not so sure anymore! great review lovely :)

I think it will look better in the summer :) I would still recommend it, I was just expecting it to be a lot more wearable for everyday :) xx
DeleteI'm glad I read this because I was gonna buy it but I might think twice about it now!
ReplyDeleteeyelashwishes-x.blogspot.co.uk
I would definitely swatch it first and maybe even ask them to apply it for you :) xx
DeleteI've had this on my wish list for awhile now, I'll definitely have to have a look before I impulse buy! xxx
ReplyDeleteI do think it's pretty but maybe try it on first so you know what to expect! :) xxx
DeleteGorgeous colour! It's a lot more than I would pay for though, but it's a really pretty product

It is so pretty but I do think it's a little pricey now I have it! :) xx
DeleteI went to mac to buy this last summer but after seeing how glittery it is I went home with lightscapade which is much better for my fair skin! :-) Rachel xxx

It looks so pretty in the pan :) x
DeleteThis looks so good! I am definitely going to have to try it!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty :) Let me know if you get on with it okay! xx
DeleteI do love it but I find it is very heavy too. Mine also had an unfortunate meeting with a spilled bottle of water in my bag!! I really want to try Mac Lightscapade as it looks a more finely milled option and Benefit Watts up looks beautiful. My every day highlighter at the moment is MeMeMe sun beam. M xx
